Identity for a Nordic furniture maker
A quiet identity, a type system and a website for a workshop that builds furniture to last fifty years.
Role
Brand and web designer
Duration
3 months
Team
Solo, with a photographer and a copywriter
Outcome
Wholesale enquiries tripled in the six months after the launch

Studio Kvist makes solid-wood furniture in a workshop outside Gothenburg. Their work is patient and precise; their previous identity was neither.
Principles
We agreed on three words before touching a sketch: honest, warm, unhurried. Every decision was tested against them.
The system
Wordmark. A custom cut of a humanist grotesque, with the K drawn from the joinery angle they use most.
Colour. Oiled oak, soot, linen and one accent taken from the green of their workshop doors.
Type. One family in two weights. Nothing else.
Photography. Natural light, raw edges, hands in frame.
The website
Twelve pages, built in Framer so the team can add pieces themselves. Each product page carries the wood, the finish, the lead time and the name of the person who made it.
Results
Wholesale enquiries tripled in the six months after launch, and the studio opened a second showroom in Copenhagen the following spring.
